We worked with Jess and Dave Murphy to convert an existing flower shop into the wonderful Kai restaurant. Part of the brief was that Jess wanted anyone and everyone to feel comfortable in the space from a solicitor to a construction worker. The space has to function equally for relaxed informal lunches to high end fine dining in the evening. This is achieved primarily through the use of lighting and the space transforms seamlessly from one to the other. The layout and functionality of the kitchen and service area was really key to allowing the small space to function sucessfully and this has proved itself over time.
