A south facing elevated site with views was the primary thing that informed the design of this house. The requirement was to create a bungalow due to the elevated nature and restricted heights but not to end up with a large squat looking house. This was achieved by creating two rectangular volumes and roofing them separately while shifting one slightly back from the other which also allows the western setting sun to be enjoyed by both front rooms. The proximity to the neighbouring dwelling led to an approach that provides total privacy once inside the house with only high level windows facing this direction.
