This new build home takes its proportions from the old run down cottage that was demolished. The home owner comes from a farming back ground and there is a great focus on the idea of the old ‘farmyard’ and life centring around the farmyard, the house and sheds create a modern interpretation of this idea. The new house is a highly efficient timber frame construction with an A2 Energy Rating, window sizes have been kept to a minimum on the north side of the building by locating bathrooms, wardrobes and utility spaces here in order to decrease heat losses and larger windows are provided on the south side to maximise solar gain.
